'Sutyzam' - Sugar Tyme™

Family: Rosaceae.
Landscape value: A vigorous new Crab Apple that is attractive throughout the year. Malus ‘Sutyzam’ Sugar Tyme™ is an excellent choice for small parks and gardens where space is limited. May also be suitable for street planting.
Height: 6 metres.
Width: 4.5 metres.
Growth rate: Moderate.
Habit: Upright oval-rounded, open branched.
Foliage: Bright green narrow leaves with a sharply serrated margin turn yellow in autumn.
Flowers: Fragrant. Pale pink buds opening to single snow white flowers in spring.
Fruit: Vivid red crab apples on long slender stalks, maturing in autumn and persisting well into winter. Highly ornamental.
Bark: Greyish-brown. Shiny, becoming scaly.
Tolerances: Very hardy. Adaptable to varied soil conditions, but prefers a moist, fertile, well drained acidic soil. Reported (overseas) to have very good disease resistance.
Comments: Should be planted in full sun for optimum flowering and fruiting. Highly floriferous, easily cultivated small tree.
