AUSTRODANTHONIA  sp                         TALL  WALLABY GRASS                    1 metre

A robust densely tuffed perennial grass to about 1m tall with slender branched, chaffy flower heads.

This lot is from a mixed family of wallaby grass so some variation of form  may be evident.

BOLBOSCHOENUS caldwellii                 SALT CLUB SEDGE

A perennial sedge to 1m tall, with long narrow leaves and dense hemispherical clusters , to 20mm., of small pale brown, chaffy flowers , at the top of stems. Suitable for wetlands ponds etc. The Koorie roasted the tubers and pounded them to make thin cakes. Wide spread.

               

BULBINE SEMIBARBATA                      Leek lily                                                 0.3m

A tufting annual herb to 30cm tall with narrow strap like leaves and yellow star shaped flowers at the end of erect stems. Will give a “wild flower” quality to planting or garden. Will take a wide variation in soil but likes moist well drained soils.

CAREX appressa                               TALL SEDGE                                                  1 metre x 1 metre

Wet land  tussock grass with tough narrow leaves and long weeping flower stems. Prefers wet areas but will adapt to drier sunny


DIANELLA  revoluta & longifolia                                                                          1 metre

A tufting plant with strap like foliage and clusters of pale blue flowers on long stems, dark blue berries. Very hardy and a popular landscaping plant. There is very little difference between the revoluta and the longifolia.

JUNCUS KRAUSSII                 SEA RUSH                                       1.2 metres

A robust and hardy rush, to 1.2m tall, with erect cylindrical leaves and branched clusters of chaffy flowers. Found naturally on waterlogged sites often near the coast but grows in a much wider area. Will tolerate saline and semi-saline sites.

LOMANDRA longifolia                             MATRUSH                                                           1 metre

A tussock like plant with strap like arching leaves and long spikes of fragrant cream flowers in spring. Grows in most soils, is frost hardy and will take a protected coastal exposure.  Often used in landscaping and rockery applications.

Phormium tenax                                                 NZ flax                                                                    2-3 metres

Both the green and purple forms are available. A strap like leaved plant, clump forming. This is a hardy attractive plant that has a spot in most gardens.  Are priced slightly more than standard tube stock.

PHORMIUM cookianum                            Mountain flax                                                      1.5 metres

Is a smaller growing plant than the ‘tenax” with thinner leaves and a more arching habit. Both green and purple are available. Very hardy. Are priced slightly more than standard tube stock.

               

POA labillardieri                                         COMMON TUSSOCK GRASS                          1 metre

Dense, tall, native grass tussock, common in Vic. grasslands. Is adaptable to most soils and positions. Clumps have  flower spikes occurring spring and summer.

ISOLEPIS nodosa                                 NODDING RUSH                                       1 metre

A clumping rush like plant with brown seed heads that form near the top of the spike giving rise to its name.

Grows in a range of conditions but normally found on the edge of wet areas.
